Copalera

Crafted from Portuguese grogged stoneware, this copalera brings a grounded, calming presence to any space. The natural texture of the clay remains exposed, celebrating its raw character and the subtle variations that only handcrafting can create. Designed for burning resin incense, loose herbs, or charcoal-based incense, the bowl is glazed on the inside for easy cleaning after each use, while the exterior retains the warm, tactile finish of unglazed stoneware.

I recommend using a layer of sand or ash to protect the bowl from direct heat when burning charcoal.

Keep on a heat-safe surface while in use. The unglazed base may leave a faint mark on very delicate surfaces — a small cork or felt pad underneath is recommended.
Maker's Note

Each piece begins on the wheel and is finished by hand. The glaze is mixed in the studio and varies slightly with every firing — this is the nature of the process, and part of what makes your piece yours.
